As of May 1, 1996, a Russian visa will be issued only on presentation of a special form (Confirmation of the Invitation) from the Russian Foreign Ministry (MID).═

The form should be received by your Russian partner organisation in Moscow.═

To apply for it your Russian partners should present to MID an application with your personal data, a copy of the first page of your passport and pay a fee of $40 to $300 , depending on the duration of your stay. It takes 3 weeks (21 business days) for MID to issue the invitation confirmation.═

Then your partners should send you the invitation confirmation paper by fax, which should be presented to a Russian Consulate to get the visa.═

In some countries only the original of the invitation confirmation paper is accepted. Sometimes MID does not issue a paper but informs the appropriate consulate by telex.═

To apply for MID support, you need to fill out Application Form.
