Case Study:═ Petrochemical Terminal

Our client, an existing oil terminal operator in St. Petersburg, appointed CentreInvest to undertake a market feasibility study for a proposed new petrochemical terminal on the Baltic.═ We analysed current and future trade flows of liquid petrochemicals and dry bulk fertilizers, chemical group, identifying supplying plants and ultimate destinations, together with the safety requirements for storage and transshipment. We are currently working with the same client on a technical and environmental feasibility study for the terminal project which, if positive, will be followed by assistance in raising finance.═

Case Study:═ Market Entry Strategy

A major international oil and gas company was considering entry to the Russian market for a specialty oil product.═ The company asked for CentreInvest▓s assistance, initially in undertaking a detailed regional and sectional review of the market for the product, and subsequently to help develop a market entry strategy. CentreInvest carried out an overview of the Russian business environment, covering the political, economic and legislative situation, and the outlook for energy supply, demand, and prices.═ At the same time, we undertook a data gathering and interview program, and developed a detailed review of the current situation and future outlook for the target product in terms of supply, suppliers, sectional and regional demand, logistics, participants, costs, prices and margins. Having concluded in the first phase that the market looked attractive and that the client had the key factors required for success, we developed a range of market entry strategies.═ The preferred strategy was for a joint venture approach with a local partner. CentreInvest identified potential local partners, developed selection criteria, and approached the selected candidate partners on our clients▓ behalf to investigate levels of interest.═

Case Study:═ Market Strategy

The CentreInvest Group advised KINEF, a major Russian refinery, on the development of a marketing and pricing strategy for its new LAB/LABS plant, the only Russian facility for making this detergent component.═ The product was originally intended to service domestic demand but the Russian detergent market had been rapidly penetrated by major international brands which typically source their materials abroad.═ Our client therefore needed to rapidly develop a strategy based on either servicing the new domestic market or finding alternative export markets.═

CentreInvest completed an extensive market survey of the Russian, CIS and European markets for LAB/LABS, which analysed competitors, potential customers and pricing trends.═ Subsequently, we developed a comprehensive domestic and international strategy for KINEF, which focused on identifying the most attractive export and international sales.═ The CentreInvest Group is now assisting KINEF to implement key aspects of the plan.═ In addition, our research on competitors▓ costs indicated areas where KINEF could make substantial production cost reductions.═
